About Creative Photography

We don't just take photographs. We make them.

WHY PHOTOGRAPHY MATTERS

People take photos everyday. From self-portraits to coffee cups, we collectively create memories of our present history and, should there be a way to create a timeline made of photos, we can have a complete record of every second that has ever occurred.

We use photography as a tool to keep and share memories, to explore the world we're in, and document history. Personally, I create images to tell stories and show people how interesting everyday-objects are. That's why I took my photography skills to a whole new level to let others appreciate the environment in a new perspective, turning common, unnoticed things to subjects of interest.

That's where creativity sets in.

THE CREATIVE LINE

Digital photography has been dominating the world of imaging today. From Gimp to Lightroom, images are post-processed and often modified to give an awesome look. This blurs the line between traditional photography and modern imaging as the question goes, "When does a photograph cease to be one?"

The answer lies in the reason why a photograph is taken and why it is edited or not. I do some serious editing for micropictography to further emphasize and make more recognizable the details made up of tiny cells. For most photographs I do minor adjustments with brightness, contrast, highlights and shadows to bring out the details that our eyes can normally see while the camera doesn't. But if I need a photograph to bear witness to what is real, there's no need to move those sliders around. Proofs have no need to be modified.

About Joshimer Biñas

4 years in photography

Joshimer has a passion for art and its various forms for more than 15 years and currently resides in Iloilo City, Philippines. He grew up as a child in Manila where he was first exposed to art, but it was not until 10 years after moving to Iloilo that he became acquainted with photography. In the years that followed, Josh spent time to improve his skills by exploring various photography techniques with a fairly wide extent of subjects. Josh has had the opportunity to work in many assignments that require documentation and research where natural history became his main interest followed by micropictography.

The inspiration of improving photography by experience helped him develop his personal style of teaching imaging techniques through Creative Photography; it can be noted, however, that his skills and methods are inspired by the professional photographers Karl Taylor, Lara Jade, Scott Kelby, David Hobby, Steve McCurry, Sam Abell, Maayke Klaver, Thomas Shanan, and Melvyn Yeo.

Aside from working with photography, Joshimer is also a self-taught graphite artist, guitarist, and graphic designer.
